With the surge in usage of all types of digital content, the need for organisations across industries to be able to manage and deliver rich media communications has grown dramatically.

Growing levels of internal and external corporate communications on top of shrinking travel budgets are driving the need for organisations to utilise webcasting to take advantage of the content they have.

This desire and ability to use rich media to educate and communicate across the enterprise, both internally and externally has resulted in the need to be able to record, store and manage those assets in a single web-based platform.

  • Broadcast live or pre-recorded audio, video or desktop content over the Internet, in much the same way as online TV services like BBC iPlayer.
  • Provide a reliable and cost effective solution to allow businesses to more formally communicate information via a web event or through pre-recorded content.
  • Webcasting has been technically challenging and expensive for most businesses to adopt.

There are 2 key different types of webcast that organisations want to deliver:

  1. Live - An online service that delivers live audio or video content over the Web to viewers connected to the internet in real time. It is the internet counterpart to traditional live radio and TV broadcasting.
  2. On Demand An online service that delivers audio or video content over the Web to viewers as they request it. Viewers are able to watch the content as a whole or in part as they wish.
